The
Baby Brain Workout Flashcards series is for babies, toddlers and
children from ages 2 months old to 6 years old. It is before the age of
6 is when your baby's
brain needs the most stimulation for the brain to form connections.
|
 |
The
best time is when your child has slept well and immediately after he or
she has eaten. Basically, when your child is at his or her most alert
form, so that your child will be most receptive to learning; when your
child is sleepy or hungry, the concentration level will be poor. |

a well-lit and quiet room with little distractions. |

The
“chipmunkish” voice in Super Speed is a result of increasing the speed
of the voice by 100%. While you may find it impossible to pick up the
right pronunciation of the words, but similar to the fast images, the
important point to note is that it is not so much to learn the actual
objects in the flashcards during the Super Speed shows but to stimulate
the brain with the increased speed images and voiceover |
 |
While
it may seem fast to you, but 1-2 seconds is considered a long time for
children to pick up images. In fact, as your child gets used to the
fast flashing of cards, they can pick up images that are a fraction of
a second. The important point to note is that it is not so much to
learn the actual objects in the flashcards during the Super Speed shows
but to stimulate the brain with the images and voiceover. |
 |
The
20-Day program is a pre-set program for parents to flash a variety of
cards to their children without always repeating the same cards. The
aim of the 20-Day and Super Speed program is to stimulate the left and
right brain of your child. Thus, even if you skip some days, it is not
a problem. However, just remember that it is important for your child
to receive continuous and consistent stimulation. Thus, do it on a
daily basis and when you have completed the 20-Day and Super Speed
programs, you can repeat the 20-Day programs again.

It
is common for children to be distracted. However, stick to a schedule
each day that you feel is best for your child.
For
example, if your child is most alert at around 8am, then every morning
at 8am, tell your child it is "flashcards time" and view the show
together. Even if your child rejects it initially, he or she will soon
start looking forward to flashcards time with you as it also means
cuddle-time with you. Thus, make it a point to kiss and cuddle your
child after sitting through the show with you; intrinsic reward is
advisable, rather than extrinsic reward such as a treat (sweets) for
sitting through the show. This way, your child will become a happy
child who would enjoy a healthy learning process in later years.

It is a myth that looking at the TV
screen too much will "spoil" one's eyes. While our eyes may feel
strained after long hours at staring at the TV screen, according to eye
experts, it does not cause our eye-sight to deteriorate.
However,
it is important to be in a well-lit environment when viewing the shows
for your child. Also, there is a recommended amount of times you should
let your child view the flashcards each day and spread out to various
times of the day rather than put the shows back to back.
|
 |
Unlike
some picture flashcards, most of Baby Brain Workout Flashcards come
with the descriptive text at the bottom. This is to encourage
your child to pick up the image and word at the same time. |
 |
There
is less research is carried out in regards to brain stimulation of
older
children above 6 years old, but this DVD can also act as educational
software for your older children.
However, older children are less
likely to sit through the entire program. Thus, it is not advisable to
force your older children to sit through the show but to see what
flash cards interest them.
